'Truth telling is the ultimate gesture of respect. It indicates a willingness to listen, to learn and to concede that the stories should be heard of those who have been victims of great wrongs' (Henry Reynolds).
Everyday I check the comments you have left on this page; so many of us have been impacted by Ngala, Matron Grant and the policies of family seperation via adoption.
The sentiment is very clear, to change the name of the community centre is the only way forward.
Matron Grant was Ngala.
Her leadership style and the streamlined processes she designed to procur newborns for adoption to biological strangers would be the foundational act to her many awards, accolades and career growth. Grant would experience many benefits from her involvement in forced adoption - professionally, financially and personally, including a Churchill Scholarship in 1967.
Thankyou to everyone who has signed and shared this petition with their networks and/or made a donation to promote this advocacy campaign for change. I am deeply grateful.
