147k signatures. Now it’s the week of the 50th anniversary!

Wow. Over 147,000 signatures in under two weeks. Thank you for supporting our campaign to rename the Edmund Pettus Bridge. Students UNITE has been busy preparing for a week of commemoration and we are ready to march over the bridge with all of your signatures! We are a group of young people who are addressing these issues in our community such as social segregation and a racial opportunity gap by giving the voiceless in our community a way to speak out. That is why we started this petition. It is giving a voice to those who do not want a piece of our notable history honored on a sacred icon of the civil rights movement. Another way we address these issues is through our community building programs like youth mentoring and conflict management nonviolence training, which we plan to house in this building!
