As someone deeply moved by the courage and resilience of Alexei Navalny, I am initiating this petition to rename a segment of street in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. The proposed change is to name the stretch of road on Charlotte Street from Wilbrod Street to Range Road as 'Navalny Street' (about a 100 metre stretch of Charlotte Street), which is right in front of the Russian embassy. No other addresses need to be affected across the street. Just the embassy be for example 1 Navalny way so Charlotte Street can still be the address of all dwellings except the embassy grounds. So nobody is affected but the embassy. 

This symbolic act serves as a constant reminder for Russia about their brave citizens who stood up for democracy against all odds. 

Alexei Navalny has been a beacon of hope and resistance against one of the most oppressive regimes globally. His relentless fight for democracy and transparency has inspired millions worldwide despite facing numerous threats and challenges. Moreover, it's noteworthy that Russia continues its controversial practices such as acquiring weapons from sanctioned DPR Korea for it's marking of two years of war tomorrow in Ukraine. 

By renaming this street segment, we can ensure that every time Russia addresses their Canadian embassy, ​​they are reminded of Navalny's courage and his unwavering commitment towards democratic values. It will serve as an enduring symbol not only for Russians but also for Canadians who value freedom and human rights.

Therefore, I urge you all to sign this petition so we can collectively pay tribute to Alexei Navalny's bravery by renaming this significant segment on Ottawa streets after him. Let us stand together in support of democracy, human rights & to end the war in Ukraine.
