Rename Hellen Keller Park to 'Reynaldo "Wiz" Reaser Sr. Memorial Park'
The Issue
*This Petition is to recognize the mostly unspoken true-life work of a Humanitarian that has empowered communities. This petition to change the name is a representation of the path to healing that never was supposed to end with one person but for the fire to be passed on.
Reynaldo dedicated his life to his beliefs that familiarity and peace are the keys to mending and healing for the present and the future. Due to his vision and collaborative efforts of the city and the community, Reynaldo's community park, otherwise famous for violence and infamously known as Helen Keller park to the community, Is a place renovated for safety and retrofitted with many new partnerships within LA county which provide humanitarian benefits to the people there in a safe way.
Reflecting on Reynaldo As a true contemporary unspoken hero, humble who rolled up his sleeves and stayed steadfast in his beliefs and evergrowing dream of peace and unity. In true respect to heroes like Helen Keller, the torch should always be passed on to those who help others in a tireless manner. The youth should be able to look up to a leader who came out of the same environment and persevered through the trials and setbacks that a community together faces.
Known in the community as Wiz, because of his knack for ideas. Reynaldo believed the old culture of the park overshadowed the true purpose of a park which is to come together outside our homes with families and friends in a peaceful space. Reynaldo went to further that concept In many ways and touched so many people with opportunities and taught self-empowerment. To tell all would have to be a book about how busy Reynaldo kept! Some notable programs Reynaldo helped create were Parks After Dark, Which hosted events families could come to the park for at night, a typically dangerous time. And organized a safe passage program that would allow community volunteers to ensure the safe passage of children home through known gang territories. His most notable lasting effort was creating the Community Athletic League that hosted softball teams made from people of the community including former rival gangs to promote family, familiarity, and peace.
Please HELP as a community to change the name of Helen Keller Park Respectively, To Reynaldo "Wiz" Reaser Memorial Park.
