Rename Delhi Airport to Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji International Airport

The Issue

My name is Jasbir Kaur, and I am reaching out to you on a matter of great significance to our nation. I am writing to seek your support and advocacy for a proposal that holds immense cultural, historical, and religious importance. I am seeking your support and advocacy in the proposal to rename Delhi Airport to Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji International Airport.

As you may be aware, Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji, the ninth Guru of Sikhism, was not only a spiritual luminary but also a poet, philosopher, and valiant warrior. His life and teachings exemplify the principles of sacrifice, compassion, and the defence of religious freedom. In the year 1675, Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji was publicly executed in Delhi for bravely standing up to protect the rights and freedom of another religious community. Alongside him, three other Sikhs, Bhai Mati Das, Bhai Sati Das, and Bhai Dyal Das, also made the ultimate sacrifice.

Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji continued the spiritual legacy of Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji and the subsequent Sikh Gurus. His profound spiritual writings, covering diverse themes such as the nature of God, human attachments, body, mind, sorrow, dignity, service, death, and deliverance, are enshrined in the sacred scripture, the Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji.

I am writing to propose a matter close to the hearts of millions across the nation—the renaming of Delhi Airport to Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji International Airport. This proposal seeks to pay homage to a great spiritual leader and freedom fighter whose sacrifices in 1675 played a pivotal role in safeguarding the rights of all religions in India.

Renaming Delhi Airport to Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji International Airport would not only serve as a befitting tribute but also raise awareness about the rich Sikh heritage within our country and globally. Additionally, considering the upcoming 555th Prakash (Birth) anniversary of Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji in 2024, this gesture would be a poignant and momentous acknowledgment by the Government of India.

I kindly request your invaluable support and advocacy in this matter. Your endorsement will not only be a mark of respect for Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji but also a significant step toward fostering religious harmony and equality in our diverse nation.

Please join me in making this historical renaming a reality by signing this petition today!
