Twitter has failed to meet basic legal requirements for user data protection, and has reduced and in some cases eliminated moderation of false, misleading, pornographic, hate speech, and violent content. 

This is petition requests removal of Twitter from the Apple App Store and Google Play until:

1) Twitter can demonstrate it is not in violation of US Federal and State Laws regarding data safety,

2) Content moderation including basic fact checking and removal of violence inciting hate speech is reinstated. 

Twitter, by account of numerous engineers who have left the company, is out of Federal Legal Compliance regarding data security for all users, including US Government Officials. This warrants federal investigation as a matter of national security. 

• In recent months Twitter has had to pay significant fines for data breaches. Individuals reporting these breaches on the platform itself have had their accounts removed. However, no obvious internal action is being/was taken to address substantive internal issues, indicating that data breaches are likely to continue. 
• In recent months Twitter has experienced a marked and unprecedented rise in hate speech designed to incite violence against specific groups of people. 
• In recent months Twitter has removed important scientific and data fact checking mechanisms and has minimized or removed it's entire fact checking team while the CEO himself has posted scientifically erroneous and demonstrably false statements. 

Despite providing a significant public service and an enjoyable app experience for many years, Twitter now represents a danger to public safety and health, and is out of legal compliance for user data safety.

Sign this petition to make your voice heard regarding the systematic disregard for  data safety, enablement of individuals and groups of citizens to be targeted by hate speech, lack of moderation regarding speech intended to incite violence against individuals and groups of people, and lack of basic fact checking on Twitter.

What happens after we sign? The contents of this petition and comments (500,000 signatures or 3 weeks whichever comes first) will be forwarded to all members of the US House of Representatives, all Congress members, the White House, executives at both Apple, Inc. and Google, Inc. and at least 10 national news organizations.
