Millions of Canadians have no religious beliefs and identify as atheists. The National Anthem of Canada says " god keep our land, glorious and free". The National Anthem of Canada should not mention any reference to a god which a large percentage of our population knows to be fictional. The line in the anthem should be changed to "always keep our land glorious and free" so that it is an anthem all Canadians can proudly sing. The separation of church and state cannot be complete as long as a god is part of the Canadian National Anthem; removal of reference to a deity will prevent the alienation of a growing segment of our society. To ensure the Canadian National Anthem is inclusive to all Canadians, it must be amended to exclude references to a deity of the christian religious mythology.
