In December 1970, Historic Scotland and Edinburgh Corporation, now known as Edinburgh City Council, awarded the statue B-list status. In the same year, in March 1970, on my first night at Dr Guthrie's boys' school, the boy next to me in the shower block was all whipped. His back, his bottom, and the back of his legs were all black, blue, purple, and yellow. It was horrible. I was eleven years old. I thought I was in hell. Edinburgh City Council and Historic Scotland gave his statue B-list status when children in his schools were being tortured, given broken bones, stabbed in the spine, and sexually abused with movies made. It was total brutality for 28 months with no education, and that's the boy's school. I've been told equally terrible things happened in the girls' school.
