We, the undersigned residents of Kiln Road and the surrounding community, call on West Berkshire Council to permanently remove the speed bumps on Kiln Road.

Why we’re taking action

Every time a bus, HGV, tractor, or other large vehicle drives over the bumps, nearby homes experience loud noise and significant vibration.
Residents report shaking furniture, disturbed sleep, and ongoing stress caused by the constant thuds and tremors.
When the bumps were temporarily removed for road repairs, the difference was immediate — homes were calm, and people finally enjoyed a full night’s sleep.

What we’re asking for

We urge West Berkshire Council to:

Consult with residents on making the removal of the bumps permanent.
Explore alternative traffic-calming measures that don’t damage quality of life, such as:

• Vehicle-activated speed signs
• Speed cameras
• Chicanes or road narrowing
• Average Speed Cameras

We support sensible speed management — but the current solution is harming our homes and wellbeing.
