There has been a new mode added to the google chrome search engine where it allows the user to recieve an AI response to the question they just asked. This may be helpful for people who are just casually looking for the answer to a simple question but is not at all helpful for people who are using the search engine for researching precise and complex information either for work, research projects or whatever other reason.

The idea isn't terrible, its just weakly executed. The first reason for this is that it is the first mode in the search tab, where the all button used to be. This is very uncomfortable for old users since when attempting to go back from the image section into the all section, it is highly likely that you will acidentaly click the AI button instead, since the all botton is now the second on the list.

This, however, is not only an inconvenience for the user, but its also a wasteful and enviromentally damaging practice. The reason for this is that even before you asking, it already starts giving you an answer. This is detrimental because AI uses huge amounts of water to cool down the computers that process the questions you ask and wasting resources when it was not needed is unnecessary and unethical. By signing this petition, we hope to make Google LLC to modify this change to improve user experience and help reduce the companies impacts on the environment.
