Remove the Ineffective SRC at Sekhukhune Tvet College campuses

The Issue

As a concerned group of students at Sekhukhune Tvet College, we find ourselves grappling with issues that have a direct impact on our ability to receive quality education. Earlier this year, a peer was unjustly expelled in circumstances that remain a mystery to us. In response, we organized a peaceful protest to seek clarity on this expulsion, and to address other pressing matters such as a shortage of accommodation, a scarcity of necessary books, and insufficiency in allocated bursaries.

To our surprise and disappointment, the Student Representative Council (SRC), who claims to represent us, took an opposing stance, siding with the management instead. They further maligned us by suggesting that we were merely seeking "relevancy" when we called for a mass meeting and an accountability session. Alarmingly, we have also learned that the SRC has plans to charge us for entering our everyday educational facilities under the pretense of an event.

The aforementioned issues are clear indications of a stark lack of representation and a breach of promise by the existing SRC. We seek the dissolution of the SRC, specifically at the CN Phatudi Campus, Cs Barlow campus, and the Merger SRC at Sekhukhune Tvet College, in order to restore transparency, accountability, and to prioritize student issues.

We urge the relevant authorities and the college management to act upon this call by staging a democratic election of a fresh and effective SRC. No student should feel left behind in the pursuit of their education. Please sign this petition to show your support for this crucial change.
