The flags hung on Hillingdon’s lampposts in areas such as West Drayton fuel tensions and divisions in our diverse Borough.

The flags have been hung by individuals and organisations with a racist agenda and are being imposed on local residents against their will. They’ve been accompanied by a rise in racist and anti-social behaviour, leaving many residents intimidated and afraid to leave their homes. The flag campaign has been about fostering hate and division.

We note that Councils in Birmingham and Derby have listened to their residents and removed them, and the Council in Portsmouth have acted following a racist attack.

We, the people of Hillingdon, call upon you to immediately remove the flags, and help take the Borough back to feeling safe for all again.
