Petition updateRemove the ERLC’s signature from the NRLC's Letter Supporting Protection of Abortion Rights

Prayer Requests, and Don't Donate- Share Instead.

Since the petition launched a few days ago, we have received $131 in donations towards promoting this cause. You all rock!

However, I wanted to clarify for those who sign in the future, that it is much better to share the petition intentionally with friends, family, and church members. Money that is donated will go towards promoting the petition, but maybe not in the way you'd expect. any money donated is managed by change.org to promote the petition within the category it most fits.

Ironically, our petition is trending in Women's Rights. This means that every dollar contributed will go towards promoting at users interested in... women's rights. You see the issue before us.

Ultimately, change.org does not have a "pro-life" or "abolition" category. We use the tools in our society for the good of humanity, but we can't change the rules. Therefore, I'm recommending not donating to this petition (unless you know the risks, and are wanting to put the petition in feminist feeds to convict their souls. If so, by all means!)

Instead, feel free to exert your financial and activist energies by purchasing some swag at Abolitionists Rising. They have some great shirts and gear that could start great conversations regarding this issue. They even have a $2 decal for the "Abolish Human Abortion" symbol (AHA), which if you put on your car or laptop, could signal for good discussion (I recently found out a coworker of mine was an abolitionist by seeing the sticker on his car- it was a great connecting point!).

I have more updates:

Yesterday, I reached out to the State level Southern Baptist Conventions for California, Kentucky, North Carolina, and Florida. I sent them an email requesting their endorsement of this petition. I plan on following up with them on Monday. Please be in prayer over the weekend that one of the state level SBC's would support this petition.

Also yesterday, I reached out the the Baptist Press in a email to all of the editors and senior editors, requesting they do a story on this petition. Brandon Porter (SBC Executive Committee, Vice President for Communications and Editor for the Baptist Press) responded to me informing he would reach out to the ERLC regarding this. Please pray that this is a genuine inquiry from the Baptist Press to the ERLC, and not simply an "FYI" (both the Baptist Press and the ERLC have oversight from the SBC).

Thank you all for your support. If you have not shared with family and friends, please do! And if you are at church this weekend, share this petition with your friends. I am attaching a QR code image to this update so that you can easily have your fellow churchgoer's scan straight to the petition.

Have a great weekend!

-Nick
