Remove the 30-Day Online DRM Check for Purchased PlayStation Games
The Issue
PlayStation players are deeply concerned by reports of a 30-day online license verification requirement for newly purchased digital PS4 and PS5 games.
If true, this means players must reconnect their console to the internet every 30 days to keep access to games they already paid for. If they stay offline too long, those games may stop launching until the console reconnects.
This harms millions of legitimate customers.
Who is affected:
* Players with poor or unstable internet
* Rural communities with limited access
* Military personnel and workers away from home
* Travelers and students
* Anyone who wants reliable offline gaming
* Players who believe purchased games should remain accessible
Why this matters:
When people buy a game, they expect access without recurring permission checks. A purchased title should not feel like a rental.
This also raises serious concerns for game preservation. If future servers close, what happens to purchased libraries?
We are asking PlayStation to:
1. Remove any recurring 30-day online check for purchased digital games
2. Restore full offline access for legitimately owned titles
3. Provide clear public communication about license policies
4. Protect long-term access to purchased game libraries
Players support fair anti-fraud systems. But paying customers should not lose access because of internet outages or forced monthly verification.
If you agree that purchased games should stay playable offline, sign and share this petition.
Ownership should mean access.
