Remove Shai Davidai From Columbia University

The Issue

On 2 October 2024, Shai Davidai, a professor at Columbia University posted an antagonistic picture mocking a peaceful sit-in of protest that was within the authoritarian rules recently put in place by Columbia University. He openly called the students "idiots" and targeted a specific student, by calling out their very identifiable yarmulke. This is not his first offense. In fact, over the course of the past year this has become his Modi Operandi and he knows no other ways. It is creating a hostile learning environment that proves punishment is being unilaterally enforced against peaceful protestors of genocide, while antagonistic instigators remain free from any and all punishment.

Multiple employees, including unionized workers are involved with lawsuits against Columbia due to being targeted and ultimately discharged for speaking out against the ongoing genocide of the Palestinian (and now Lebanese) people. Several students have been beaten and arrested by police, who were personally invited onto the private, Orwellian, campus by Interim President Katrina Armstrong herself. Peaceful protests have been disrupted by violent agitators that ended with the arrest and even expulsion of students who had done nothing wrong before being goaded into a reaction, a repugnant show of hypocrisy. This is the same hypocrisy that is empowering bad faith actors such as Shai Davidai to boldly call students, people he is supposed to care for regardless of affiliation, "idiots" in a public forum.

I was planning on sending this information as a simple email to Ms. Armstrong, but I know it will Fall on deaf ears like every other complaint that doesn't align with the donors keeping the school's endowment funds flowing. So, I am left with no choice but to post it here so she can possibly grasp the full depth of  Shai Davidai's depravity as well as hear how the general public feels about it.

The photo was brought to my attention by actor John Cusack, so this situation is obviously much larger and more serious than anybody at Columbia University is willing to admit.

The "watermelon-yarmulka" is very identifiable, so he has put this student at risk by targeting them, something he has done in the past that went unpunished because he "apologized" online. He is putting students at risk and is mentally detached from reality. His deranged depravity is going to lead to one of his targets being attacked, and I fear a riot could break out at any moment.

I wasn't even a part of the protests or sit-ins, but I fear for my safety and my life because, eventually, this IDIOT'S words are going to incite violence, whether it is in the form of an attack or a riot and I am only here to learn, not possibly die because Columbia refuses to punish both sides evenly and fairly.

Put an end to Davidai's reign of terror on campus.

I am also including screenshots of his other tweets.

Why is he allowed to continue teaching at a place where he is destroying the legacy by attempting to provoke a reaction to his vile words?

Proof that it is an ongoing issue that he is known for.

Is this a threat? Boasting of IDF experience and antagonizing crowds sure seems like it.

Is this the reason he's allowed to continue? Are his parents big donors to the school, or are they just as childish and threatening as Shai is, making the school too afraid to punish him?
