In 2016, Justin Beaton's court case in Racine, WI did not have the full story represented to the public. Since then, an unprecedented 17 news outlets have retracted their coverage after being shown evidence that there were discrepancies in the original case. Sadly, a few remaining outlets have refused to acknowledge the evidence and take down their articles as the others have done.

Petition Goal

We respectfully request the deletion of the remaining articles or at least a disclaimer and link to the new evidence at the top. Now married with a family, Justin and his wife aim to move past these outdated, inaccurate narratives for the sake of their family, as would anyone. No one should be permanently labeled, especially when substantial counterevidence exists.

Larger Goal

The FCC states, “Rigging or slanting the news is a most heinous act against the public interest." One-sided crime news coverage that uncritically recapitulates the government's draconian conviction agenda does not present the full story, is detrimental to society, and is primarily why trust in the media is at an all-time low. Inspiring an industry-wide shift in journalistic transparency would ultimately benefit all those impacted by all forms of sensationalized news.
