Remove [Redacted] and Coaching Staff

The Issue

We are genuinely concerned about the impact of [Redacted] and staff's coaching style has on the boys as well as the future of the program under leadership. There have been many voices over the years expressing the same concerns but those have been ignored.

We are encouraging parents, students and community members in the Elk Grove Unified School District to sign in support of hiring a new head basketball coach for the 2023-2024 school year.

Reasons for removing Coach Sheridan Crite and his coaching staff:

  • [Redacted] and staff has targeted players using bully-like behavior including mind games, yelling, intimidation and threats, passive-aggressive behavior, singled out players and made “examples of” them during practices, made players sit on the sidelines as punishment like toddlers during practice and games.
  • More than one player has suffered mental issues/depression due to the [Redacted] tactics. [Redacted] has abused power and young self-esteem is being damaged as a result. Any time a "new" coach becomes close to players [Redacted] fires those coaches as feels threatened by healthy relationships with athletes and coaches.
  • Per the Player Code of Conduct us players are expected to:  give 100 percent effort to practices, games and events. I understand that effort demonstrates my commitment to the team and my respect for my coaches and teammates. However, [Redacted] does not show up at all during the summer sessions. Has random coaches coaching all summer and fires those coaches with fall ball comes back around.
  • Players have quit the program due to his tactics and even more potential players will transfer out to different basketball programs because of reputation.
  • [Redacted] is trying to block student athletes from playing AAU basketball with a different program during the offseason (March/April/May/July). is forcing players by making threats to play for his own AAU program "AlphaPack" and charging outrageous fees.
  • There was were multiple incidents during the 2021-2022 season where, players whom were ineligible to play due to grades were still allowed to play because [Redacted] wanted to win games.
  • was fired as a coach at [Redacted] and [Redacted] since was removed both program have been thriving.
  • [Redacted] has remained as a coach despite consistent complaints by parents and players through the years.
  • A previous parent petition for all these same reasons was dismissed by administration -  Mr. McCracken and Mr. Jauregui.
  • [Redacted] behavior has had the effect of a classic abuse situation – players are afraid to tell for fear of additional punishment or worse treatment- and parents who do find out hesitate to speak up because previous complaints have gone nowhere and they do not want to make the situation worse for their son and/or their siblings.
