The Issue

Racist and homophobic speech

Suhrada racist and homophobic speech

Hate speech against police

For years, residents of Saratoga County have watched as Elections Commissioner Joe Suhrada has used his position to undermine the very fabric of our community. My heart is heavy because someone we trusted to be fair and unbiased in his governmental duties has taken a path that harms the values we cherish most as a diverse and inclusive society. Recently, a recording surfaced of Suhrada using vile and unacceptable racist and homophobic slurs, confirming what we have sadly suspected: he is unfit to hold such a crucial position.

The role of an Elections Commissioner is one of profound importance, requiring integrity, impartiality, and respect for all citizens. Mr. Suhrada has shown time and again that he cannot fulfill these mandates. Saratoga County deserves leaders who reflect our commitment to equality and who celebrate our differences rather than denigrate them. His actions not only tarnish the reputation of our local government but also directly threaten the sense of safety and belonging that every resident deserves.

Although our County Supervisors remain silent, we have the power to demand better for our community. Removing Joe Suhrada from office would send a clear message that hatred and bigotry have no place in Saratoga County. This decision is not just about one man but about setting a precedent that will guide our county's future toward a more empathetic and unified community.

Join me in calling for the immediate removal of Joe Suhrada from his position as Elections Commissioner. Let us come together to ensure that our public offices are held by individuals who champion our core beliefs in diversity, equity, and inclusion. Sign this petition and help restore integrity and trust in our local government. Our children deserve to grow up in a community where respect and decency are the benchmarks of leadership.
