Remove Mr. Smith from teaching at Ross N. Robinson Middle School
The Issue
At Ross N. Robinson Middle School, we believe that teachers should be engaging, knowledgeable, and enthusiastic about students learning. Unfortunately, Mr. Smith is not living up to these standards. As a student, I feel the need to address this issue. In my opinion, Mr. Smith is not teaching us efficiently because he has us read and answer questions on worksheets every single day instead of interacting with the class to teach us while he spends most of his time at the front of the class teaching us about his life. By giving us these work sheets everyday, instead of getting the chance to have an efficient teacher, he takes away our chances of being engaged during our education.
Studies have shown that teachers that do not actively engage with their class have lower rates of attendance and retention in the class they are teaching. According to the National Council of Teachers, having an interactive classroom is proven to retain 50 percent more students and engage students better in the classroom.
We are asking the administration to address this issue.
First off, we feel that you must evaluate Mr. Smith's teaching skills based on the students feedback.
Secondly, Ross N. Robinson Middle school needs to offer more ways for teachers to expand their knowledge in teaching methods and strategies.
Lastly, we have had multiple complaints from other students about the classes and grades being very difficult, so much so, that many honor roll students almost failed Mr. Smith's class. This shows how truly inept Mr. Smith is in teaching his students. He was unable to teach even the so called "smartest" students in the school.
This is a plea for compassion for our education. Parents and students of Ross N. Robinson Middle school please help us by signing this petition, that our learning environment has passionate and knowledgeable teachers.
