As an employee of Northwestern, I've witnessed firsthand the University's collapse and suffering under the leadership of President Michael Schill. Never before have I seen a president as inept as he is. Unfortunately, he needs to be the fall guy, and no one cares if he goes down.

Funds that once supported groundbreaking research are dwindling. One glaring issue is the lack of NIH funding, a crucial resource for research institutions like ours. Historically, Northwestern prided itself on fostering innovation, yet under Schill’s leadership, the university has fallen short of securing these essential grants and getting paid for existing grants.

Moreover, the benefits promised to faculty and staff are being stripped away. Many colleagues find themselves at a crossroads, questioning whether their dedication and service are valued by the current administration. This uncertainty is a direct result of poor administrative decisions following the Deering Meadow incident. Many children of staff members will no longer be able to even see their pediatricians within network because of Schill's ineptness.

In light of these failures, we need a leader who not only champions academia but is also well-versed in legal advocacy, especially in an era where policies are being challenged by figures like Donald Trump. It's time for Northwestern to regain its stature with a president who can navigate these complexities with skill and foresight.
