The Issue

Live-streaming has become an interesting way to gain popularity and fame in today’s society. There are thousands of people that actively live-stream on various different streaming platforms. There is nothing inherently wrong with streaming in and of itself, but there is a problem when those live-streams are causing harm.

Kick is a live-streaming platform created by Bijan Tehrani, Edward Craven, and a former Twitch streamer called Trainwreckstv. Tehrani and Craven launched a casino website called Stake.com in 2017, which is a website banned from being streamed on Twitch due to the platform's gambling content policy. Trainwreckstv was banned from Twitch for streaming gambling content, and this gave him the idea to make a new live-streaming platform that is much more lax with rules than its competitors. Kick was launched at the end of 2022, and within the short amount of time that has passed since then, various crimes have been committed by people that stream on it.

When you create a platform that is meant to not have as many rules as others, it is only natural that very problematic people will abuse the platform for their own benefit. This has already happened on Kick, and the people in charge of moderation have shown very clearly that they do not care unless the situation blows up and brings them too much negative attention. It is very rare for a streamer to face permanent consequences for their actions, almost every time a streamer is banned it is for no longer than a day to a week. This is ridiculous, especially considering that some of these people who received short bans got them for borderline illegal activity. None of these streamers have faced legal trouble for things they’ve done on livestreams so far either.

I’m trying to keep this brief, so I’m going to list a couple instances of streamers committing crimes live on Kick and what repercussions they faced if any.

The first I’m listing is the biggest situation they’ve had, a streamer called Riotlol would regularly stream himself meeting girls on websites like Omegle and encourage them to flash for him without letting them know he was live. Not only this, but he would screen record these girls doing this and send the video to an NSFW channel in his discord, full of equally disgusting people. A good amount of these girls this happened to were under the age of 18. A YouTuber that makes Omegle content named SomethingAboutChickens learned of what Riotlol was doing and was beyond disgusted and appalled, especially because he was verified on Kick and facing zero repercussions for this. SomethingAboutChickens proceeded to save a bunch of evidence of him doing this, he confronted Riotlol a couple of times, and he made a long video detailing everything Riotlol has been doing and calling for Kick to be held accountable for it. The video blew up almost immediately, and now millions of people know what Riotlol has done. Since there was so much negative attention coming towards Kick, they actually permanently banned him (which, once again, is rare). However, nobody else complicit in this situation seems to have faced really any consequence. Another streamer mentioned towards the end of the video, Citrus, was only banned for 3 days and is back to streaming and moderating for one of the biggest streamers on the platform (Adin Ross) like it never happened. I’ll provide the link to the video here.

Another streamer, going by the name Suspendas, has been caught committing multiple crimes on stream. He has abused animals, used slurs, threatened to dox his viewers, sexually assaulted a drunk woman, and had sex in front of a child - all of this happened live on Kick. Suspendas has faced zero punishment for any of these things.

Those are just a couple examples of predatory streamers on Kick, there are plenty more, some of which are probably going completely under the radar of everyone. There are also streamers that are problematic in different ways, such as some of their most popular streamers, Adin Ross and Jack Doherty. It feels like every other day these guys are wrapped up in another controversy. I suggest looking into all of the people I have mentioned if you’re looking for more information on these guys and the kinds of things they do on their livestreams.

One of the biggest reasons I have for starting this petition is the amount of children watching these livestreams. It is common knowledge that these Kick streamers have a fanbase almost entirely made up of children. Adin Ross has proved this by showing videos of him meeting his fans, all of them looking to be around 10 years old. This has also been proven by a streamer named N3on, who was banned a month ago for threatening to dox and rape what sounded like a 10 year old boy (he was only banned for 2 days for this). The child was being disrespectful towards N3on, and the language used by the child is extremely vulgar. The child is a perfect example of what watching Kick content does to children, and the child is currently being paraded around on other livestreams for getting N3on banned. A streamer named Vitaly has had him on his stream, which is concerning considering Vitaly has plenty of his own controversies under his belt. Children do not belong anywhere near a platform like Kick that has proven to host child predators and content that encourages children to go out and film themselves harassing people in public. Children’s brains are being rotted by this platform and it needs to stop. Parents should be moderating what their kids watch, but there will always be tons of parents that just don’t do that. Do those children not also deserve to be protected?

I personally believe Kick as a whole needs to be dismantled, but we are nowhere near anything like that happening. It’s gonna take some lawsuits at least before that can happen, and so far surprisingly there haven’t been any. What we can do is petition for app stores to stop supporting the platform. I’m willing to bet a majority of these children watching this harmful and illegal content are doing so on their phones, and removing access to the app will help to prevent kids from being in these livestreams as well as send a message to Kick that allowing so much to go unpunished can only hurt their brand. Please sign this petition, this is a very serious issue that is being blatantly ignored by so many people.
