The Issue

Horace Smith, a respected and dedicated employee, served diligently at the Brandsafway construction site at Cove Point. Despite his unwavering commitment, Horace faced unlawful termination, a stark example of the ongoing pattern of discrimination, unequal pay, and retaliation emanating from the current superintendent of construction. This unjust action not only violates Horace's rights but also highlights a broader culture of misconduct that affects the entire workforce.

For too long, employees like those at Brandsafway have endured a toxic work environment. Numerous reports have emerged, detailing consistent mistreatment and inequitable practices. Minority employees are frequently paid less for the same work, with their grievances dismissed or ignored.

Misconduct at the management level, such as the instances shown by the superintendent, results in a hostile environment where fear of retaliation inhibits workers from speaking out. As a community, we must ensure that every employee is treated with dignity and fairness, knowing that their voices can be heard without fear of retribution.

The removal of the superintendent is not just about justice for Horace aka JR , but also about instituting a culture of respect and equality on the job site. We urge Brandsafway and Local 24 Insulators Union to conduct a thorough investigation into these allegations, reevaluate their practices, and implement policies that ensure fair treatment and equal opportunity for everyone.

By signing this petition, you stand against workplace discrimination and support a more equitable and just work environment at Cove Point. Let’s hold those in power accountable and make a safe space for every worker to thrive. Sign the petition now!
