The Issue

I've watched Child Protective Services (CPS) and police officers destroy lives ever since my childhood in a foster home. They've tried to kidnap my children multiple times, and my life has been forever changed by the actions of an indifferent police officer. Dishonest CPS workers have turned my life upside down for years, and it's time to bring an end to these injustices.

Currently, CPS workers and law enforcement officers operate under a system of qualified immunity, allowing them to evade responsibility even when they engage in corrupt and harmful activities. This immunity often serves as a shield, protecting them from necessary accountability for actions that result in the devastation of innocent lives. This is especially egregious when it involves the separation of families, wrongful imprisonment, and placing children in unsafe environments.

A report by the National Coalition for Child Protection Reform reveals that children are removed from their homes unnecessarily in almost a quarter of all cases, and once in the system, they often face neglect and even exploitation. Shockingly, there have been instances where children were allegedly told to engage in prostitution for survival. This systemic failure not only affects children but entire families, who are treated as guilty until they prove their innocence.

Family court processes must be reformed to reflect the principle of 'innocent until proven guilty,' much like the criminal justice system. This will ensure that families are protected, and only justifiable actions are taken by CPS and law enforcement.

Immunity removal is crucial for accountability. Without protection from consequences, CPS and police officers can be held accountable for their actions. This reform would deter misconduct and ensure justice for countless victims who have suffered under the current system.

Every family deserves to live free from the fear of unjust governmental intervention. It's time to prioritize justice and reform the system that is failing us. I urge you to support the removal of immunity for CPS workers and police officers, so no more lives are destroyed by corruption and negligence.

Please sign this petition to demand justice and accountability in our child protection and law enforcement systems. Together, we can enforce change and safeguard our communities.
