The Issue

Growing up in Canada, I took immense pride in a nation unified by compassion and respect for human rights. I have always believed that our borders were safeguarded solely by Canadian authorities, under the principles of fairness and justice. For over 20 years, the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has operated offices right here on Canadian soil. These offices exist in Ottawa, Toronto, Montreal, Calgary, and Vancouver, embedding a foreign agency into our nation. An agency, mind you, with a troubling track record of human rights violations and total disregard for its own US Constitution. We cannot stand idly by as such an agency maintains a permanent operational footprint in our country.

Canada should not be a platform for an agency known for operating with heartlessness and a blatant disregard for accountability. Our nation's ethos is built upon values of empathy, inclusiveness, and respect for human rights. Allowing ICE to function within our borders contradicts everything we stand for. It’s a quiet invasion of our sovereignty and a slap in the face to our commitment to human rights.

This situation is not just about protecting our borders; it is about protecting the very soul of Canada. We need to raise our voices for stronger laws and policies that ensure no foreign agency can operate within Canadian borders without transparency, accountability, and oversight by Canadian bodies.

Statistics and global reports have highlighted numerous instances of ICE's controversial tactics and disregard for human dignity. These are well-documented and can be found in reputable international human rights journals and news sources. The presence of ICE within our jurisdiction creates a moral and ethical dilemma that cannot be ignored.

The solution is clear: We must call upon our government to demand the immediate removal of ICE offices from Canadian soil. It’s time we assert our autonomy and reclaim our integrity as a nation. Together, we have the power to safeguard the principles upon which Canada is built.

Join me in this call to action. Let us stand united, demand change, and protect what makes Canada a beacon of hope and humanity. Your signature can make a difference; please sign this petition to let your voice be heard.
