Remove ICE from Chicago

The Issue

In Chicago, families who have lived in harmony for years are being torn apart. The presence of ICE (Immigration and Customs Enforcement) in our city has become a source of fear and distress, not just for undocumented immigrants, but for all residents, including U.S. citizens. For many Chicagoans, ICE symbolizes the arbitrary tearing apart of family units, causing both emotional and physical harm to individuals who have contributed to our community for decades.

People who call Chicago home, contribute economically, culturally, and socially to our city. They are our neighbors, friends, and co-workers. However, the activities of ICE have turned the city into a battlefield where law-abiding citizens and residents live in fear of raids, detentions, and even violence, as there have been reported instances of aggression during raids.

The statistics are disheartening. According to several studies, families impacted by ICE operations experience severe mental distress. The emotional toll on children, especially those who witness their parents being forcefully removed from their homes, cannot be understated. The broader community sees a ripple effect, with hatred and xenophobia swelling in the wake of these operations.

What is the solution? We urge our local government and representatives to take action. It's time to declare Chicago a true sanctuary city, where all its residents, regardless of their immigration status, can live without fear of deportation and without the destructive presence of ICE. We need policies that protect our residents and promote inclusivity, understanding, and respect among all community members.

Join us in demanding the removal of ICE from Chicago. Let’s stand together to protect our families, uphold our values, and ensure that Chicago remains a unified, safe, and thriving sanctuary for everyone. Sign this petition to have your voice heard and make a meaningful impact.
