Remove GoGuardian from schools around the world.

Remove GoGuardian from schools around the world.
The Issue

As a concerned parent and advocate for children's privacy, I'm compelled to start this petition to address an issue that affects our children in schools every day: the use of GoGuardian. With great urgency, we must address the invasive nature of GoGuardian and its implications on student privacy in educational environments.
GoGuardian is marketed as an effective tool for managing student technology use and ensuring safety online. However, its implementation has raised significant concerns among parents, students, and privacy advocates alike. The software allows for the continuous surveillance of students' activities online, often without their full knowledge or understanding. This form of digital monitoring is not just about ensuring a conducive learning environment; it teeters on the edge of violating fundamental privacy rights.
Imagine being a child in today's digital age—every click, every keystroke, and every online action monitored closely by an unseen eye. This constant surveillance creates an atmosphere of distrust and pressure, where students might feel threatened rather than safe. It strips away their autonomy and cultivates an environment of fear and control.
Research shows that constant surveillance can have detrimental effects on a child's mental well-being. Studies have indicated that students under regular surveillance show signs of increased anxiety and stress, which impairs their learning outcomes and creativity. In extreme cases, this constant monitoring can lead to a feeling of hopelessness and helplessness, contributing to mental health issues that impede not only academic performance but also personal growth.
We believe that the security of our kids doesn't have to come at the expense of their privacy. Educational software should prioritize protecting students’ personal information and respecting their right to privacy. Therefore, we urge schools and educational institutions to reconsider the use of GoGuardian and to explore alternatives that strikingly balance safety and privacy without compromising either.
We call upon school boards, educators, and policymakers to:
1. Initiate an immediate review of the impact of GoGuardian on student privacy.
2. Engage with privacy experts, educators, and parents to explore less invasive alternatives.
3. Implement strict guidelines and transparency in the use of surveillance technology in schools.
Your signature can help push for positive changes in our educational system. Let's work together to ensure that our children's privacy is prioritized and respected. Sign this petition to remove GoGuardian from our schools and advocate for a secure and private learning environment.
Sincerely,
James Charles.
