Cape Fear ALPR Update

Thank you — now let's finish the job. Monday, Oct 19.

To the 4,125 of you who signed to get Flock out of the Cape Fear: thank you. Your names are why commissioners are listening.

A quick win worth celebrating: the town of Atkinson, right here in Pender County, just became the first community in North Carolina to ban automated license-plate-reader cameras outright. A town of a few hundred people showed the whole state it can be done.

Here's where you come in next. In September, New Hanover County voted to cancel its Flock contract — a huge victory you helped win. But the Flock "Condor" cameras are still up. The fight isn't over until they come down.

👉 Monday, October 19 — New Hanover County Commissioners meeting (evening session). We need a crowd in the room to finish this and take the Condors down. If you can be there, be there. Numbers in the room move a board more than anything else.

And New Hanover isn't the only one. Brunswick, Columbus, Pender, and Onslow counties — and the beach towns (Carolina Beach, Kure Beach, Wrightsville Beach) — all have meetings coming up, and every one needs residents who will speak.

Find your meeting (dates, times, and how to speak):

Two more things that take one minute each:

Make this statewide. Add your name to our North Carolina petition — the more NC signers, the more weight every local fight carries:

Get the alerts. Change.org can't tell you when Flock lands on your town or county's agenda. We can. Sign up and we'll tell you when — and when to show up:

See you on the 19th.
