On October 2, the Santa Clara County Office of Education announced that MVWSD has been referred to a state agency called FCMAT (Fiscal Crisis Management & Assistance Team) for an "AB 139 Extraordinary Audit."

(Mountain View Voice story here.)

An AB 139 Extraordinary Audit can be requested when the County Superintendent "...has reason to believe that fraud, misappropriation of funds, or other illegal fiscal practices have occurred that merit examination."

In response, MVWSD Superintendent Rudolph sent out a press release to the community giving the (dishonest) impression that he contacted the County first and "agreed" to the audit.   This is not how Extraordinary Audits work.  It took the Santa Clara County Office several months of thorough internal review before deciding to impose this audit on MVWSD, due to reasonable concern about "fraud, misappropriation of funds, or other illegal fiscal practices."

Thank you to all of you who wrote into the County Office and requested this audit.   Your voices made a difference.   We will continue putting pressure on MVWSD until the full extent of Dr. Rudolph's financial misconduct is known to the public.
