The Town of Thermopolis has finally released some of the requested body cam footage, including the shooting incident that occurred April 28, 2023. To say that it is a stitched together, heavily edited cinematic piece of work is probably an understatement. Instead of simply releasing the footage & allowing the public to see what happened that day, they have removed key footage from interactions with others in the hours prior to the shooting. There is a 50 second window missing from the time he arrives at the home until his interaction right before entering the home.  Their narration has discrepancies from the initial report that was released. The fact that they feel the need to remove countless minutes of footage, but didn’t remove or edit the traumatic minutes after the shooting doesn’t add up. We have been told over & over to remember that he has a family & he is a human, so why would they broadcast those minutes to the entire world? The fact that they feel the need to continually pause their footage & try to justify the actions that were taken that day show a bigger problem. Nobody is discounting how traumatic those minutes must have been for everyone involved & that is graphically shown on the footage. The issue that everyone needs to remember is that the situation was completely avoidable had the home not been ILLEGALLY entered.
