Remove cinnamon pinecones from grocery stores

Remove cinnamon pinecones from grocery stores
The Issue
I am a 50-year-old woman struggling with severe allergies, one of which is cinnamon. With my children living far away and the recent loss of my beloved husband, I find myself facing the holiday season alone. While it should be a time of joy and celebration, for me, it becomes a time of anxiety and potential harm due to the presence of cinnamon-scented pinecones in grocery stores.
Cinnamon allergies, albeit rare, can have severe consequences for those affected. Exposure can lead to life-threatening anaphylactic shock as well as debilitating migraines, skin irritation, and other allergic reactions. This danger becomes more pronounced during the holiday season when cinnamon aromas are prevalent, including in decorative items such as pinecones found in many grocery stores.
Moreover, cinnamon poses a hidden threat for people on certain medications. It can dangerously interact with diabetic medications and blood thinners, leading to severe health risks. The risk extends even further as the scent can be toxic to pets and young children, causing harm to our most vulnerable loved ones.
Every person deserves the right to shop for groceries without fearing for their health and safety. For individuals like myself, the simple task of grocery shopping becomes a minefield of potential danger. While online shopping is an option, it often fails to meet the quality of fresh produce I need.
We urge grocery stores to prioritize the health and well-being of their customers by removing cinnamon pinecones. A small change can make a significant difference in the lives of those affected by cinnamon allergies and sensitivities.
Please sign this petition to help make grocery shopping safe and accessible for everyone during this festive season, allowing us all to enjoy the holiday spirit without the risk of harm.
