Remove child protection officer in N. Manadhoo for defending sexual abuser

The Issue

this petition calls for the immediate removal of a child protection officer currently employed at the gender ministry branch in N. Manadhoo. the officer in question has chosen to defend her husband, who has been accused of sexually abusing a minor — her own niece — within the family. disturbingly, the child’s mother is also defending her current husband (the child’s stepfather), who has been accused of abusing the same girl at a separate location.

despite the gravity of the case and public knowledge of these accusations, both women continue to live with and protect the alleged abusers. one remains in active duty, tasked with safeguarding the very children she has failed to stand up for — while the victim is left isolated and silenced.

this is not just a personal or family matter. this is a systemic failure, enabled by corruption, nepotism, and silence in our institutions. it is unacceptable for a government employee in child protection to shield predators, and we demand immediate action from the ministry and related authorities.

we, the undersigned, call for:

- the termination of the officer’s employment.

- an independent investigation into this case and the handling of it by local authorities.
- protection and justice for the survivor.

sign this petition to show that we will not allow child abusers — or their defenders — to hide behind uniforms and power.
