COVID related travel requirements have been proved to be ineffective against the spread of the virus. Living on an island like Malta obliges the majority of its citizens to make use of shared means transport to travel, therefore subject to travel controls.

Malta is one of the last few countries in Europe who have not abolished all COVID-related travel restrictions. Any passenger over 12 is still required to show a valid vaccination (3 doses), proof of negative swab or recovery certificate. This is creating an unnecessary burden for anyone wishing to travel to Malta who was not vaccinated, having to find somewhere to swab with the risk of getting a positive result and being stuck abroad. This is discriminatory since we all now know that vaccinated and unvaccinated have equal risk of testing positive.

Under the light of the recent developments and studies we would like to demand the complete removal of all COVID related travel requirements; proof of COVID vaccination certificates / Negative PCR tests for all travellers arriving in Malta.
