We, the community members, relatives and friends of Franky Kashevarof are requesting the DOT to approve the naming of the bridge over the Seldovia slough to, "Franky Kashevarof Bridge." 

     With the approval of naming the bridge we are also asking DOT for the approval to place a plaque of remembrance where Franky fished for salmon. We already have community members that have stepped up to create a plaque, sign, and have offered services to install them.

    Franky was raised here, fishing the bridge as a kid, playing on our first basketball team and graduating from Seldovia School.  He made his livelihood commercial fishing and married a local Seldovian, Christine Boone who was the love of his life for 60 plus years!  Franky was a staple at the bridge over the slough, helping people learn to fish, especially sharing his passion with the young folks that came by.  He was generous with poles, bait, line, hooks and shared his salmon catch with the elders.
