Pictures of the current anti-Semitism and its roots Wed, 22.11. 18-21.30 h "Anti-Semitism is a problem for society as a whole," notes the second report of the Independent Expert Group on Anti-Semitism, which was presented to the German Bundestag in April 2017. In addition to prevention issues, the current report also focuses on the question of the origins of social anti-Semitism. Thus, the traditional images of Christian hatred of the Jews come into view, as they are represented in the representations of "Judensau" in Cologne and Wittenberg, in the conceptual pair of "Synagogue and Ecclesia", but also the pictorial representation of the Judas figure. The conference examines the history and imagery of traditional pictorial motifs and contextualizes them in today's social reality. In a panel discussion, among others with representatives of the Jewish communities in Cologne we ask for experiences in the Cologne city society and look for courageous and effective strategies of the public.
