Die „Judensau“ muss weg! - GGE, geistl. Gemeinde Erneuerung supports petition!
Dr. Richard HarveyLondon, Reino Unido
.

The "Jewish pig" must go!
A REQUEST TO THE EKD TO REFORMATION ANNIVERSARY
Who really knows that there is a sandstone relief is on the facade of the City Church in Wittenberg, called as. "Jewish pig" God's chosen people and the holy name of God reviles? Luther preached in this church knew this medieval relief and explicitly mentioned in the sense of anti-Jewish polemics.
(See Wikipedia: https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Judensau).
On November 9, 1988, a simple memorial was inaugurated with the following text at the foot of the Church:
"God real name, ... the Jews held almost unspeakably holy before the Christians, died in six million Jews under a sign of the cross."
Nevertheless, the "Jewish pig" which remains one of the cityscape and is still to be found in the same manner or with other versions of this representation at about 30 locations in Europe, but striking and depressing frequently in Germany.
There is an overview map:

It would be an appropriate mark of the EKD, if they would testify publicly 500 years after Luther's theses: We dissociate ourselves from any anti-Semitic undercurrent in our Reformation heritage.
