In Abingdon, VA there are two confederate monuments located directly outside the courthouse.  We petition the board of supervisors to remove the confederate monuments, as they are in a place where there should be justice for ALL.  Monuments should serve to unite us as a community and inspire us, and these monuments do not do that. We suggest that the community relocate the monuments to the Sinking Springs cemetery.

Starting July 1, localities around VA have the ability to remove or relocate the confederate monuments that exist in our state, and those who sign the petition below believe that should happen here in Abingdon.
