#ReleaseTheWaititiCut

The Issue

Let me start this by stating I have no idea how these petitions normally go, nor do I know how to make one. I just concluded smoking a delicious bowl of Pink Kush (love from Canada),  then I read an article, which prompted me to look for a petition,  I couldn't find one... aaaand now here we are.

Sooo Thor Love and Thunder is set to release... pretty soon... I'm not sure of the actual release and do not want to look it up.

As many of you know the film will star Christian Bale as the main Villain, and from the trailers and clips its a safe bet that he's going to be amazing. I, like many am super pumper for the film, but I am a little sad now after reading an article about the deleted scenes and the original run time of the film.

When the movie hits theaters it's runtime will be 1 hour and 59 minutes... That's really not that long in comparison to other marvel films of this size, but that's really besides the point. The directors cut however, was 4 hours long! From the interviews with both Waititi and Bale it sounds like alot of the Gor scenes were cut because the movie would not be kid friendly. Which is totally fair, I'm not mad at that, make those cookies Taika!! But if a a second version had to be made for theatrical release, why stash the original somewhere on a hard drive? What good does that do anyone?? By not using those deleted scenes Disney is, in a way letting the time and money that went into filming those scenes go to waste. In any other type of business this would not make any sense, think of it in terms of supply and demand. A corporation (Disney) has a product (the original 4 hour film) that there is a demand for, they decide to put the product away in storage forever. That's not how that works!

Now, I understand that it would cost alot to edit all of that unused footage, I'm sure alot of the VFX wouldn't have been done for scenes that were cut early and all that. So that is why this petition is not just asking Disney to release the film, I understand that would be impractical. However in my opinion those scenes even in there unedited raw state are valuable! So I propose the following option:

Have the fans finish it! Comic book fans are some of the most creative, talented, and intelligent people around. There are so many people in this worldwide community of fans who would LOVE the opportunity to work on a marvel project. Disney would not have to pay for post production, the older fans would get there movie, and it would be a significant highlight in many people's lives/ careers who got the opportunity to work on it. It would really be a win win for everyone.

Anyways that was my idea. I've been formulating it for a little while now while watching movies with my girlfriend. I keep saying to her that streaming platforms should have options for which version of the movie you would like to watch ie. Directors cut, commentary, theatrical. And then in cases like Thor LAT or suicide squad (remember when that got chopped up to meet pg-13 requirements) you could have a pg-13 version, an R rated version. It could be filtered for kids content that way too so. Probably unrealistic but wouldn't that be awesome!

So if you can, please share this with people, get the idea out there! I'm super excited for the film regardless of the cuts and can't wait to see it... whenever it comes out lol
