Release University of Alabama Student from ICE Detention Immediately

Release University of Alabama Student from ICE Detention Immediately
The Issue
This week, a University of Alabama doctoral student has been unjustly detained by ICE, the result of a misguided crackdown on international students.
According to ICE’s website, Iranian national Alireza Doroudi is currently being held in a “detention facility.”
It is not clear why he was detained. But he now faces uncertainty and the threat of deportation.
"Our fears have come to pass. Donald Trump, Tom Homan and ICE have struck a cold, vicious dagger through the heart of UA's international community," said The University of Alabama College Democrats in their statement.
This is not an isolated incident. The government’s aggressive campaign against international students under the guise of compliance enforcement is upending lives and damaging the reputation of U.S. higher education.
Alireza Doroudi does not deserve to be treated like a criminal.
We demand that ICE release Alireza Doroudi immediately and halt its harmful policies that unfairly target international scholars.
