The 2026–27 session began on April 1. Class 9 students were initially told their new NCERT books would arrive by mid-April. Later, NCERT said the remaining books would be released by August. It is now late September, and Mathematics – Ganita Manjari Part II, Social Science – Understanding Society: India and Beyond Part II, and the Hindi-medium Social Science book are still not available.

 

CBSE has made NCERT books mandatory for Classes 9 to 12. Schools cannot use other books, and students cannot study from books that don't exist. Class 9 is the foundation for Class 10 boards, and every month of delay hurts:

 

Students are studying from PDFs, coaching notes and guesswork, without knowing what will be asked in exams. Teachers cannot plan lessons or finish the syllabus. Parents in small towns and government schools cannot afford to buy substitute guides. Students without smartphones or reliable internet are left furthest behind.

 

Officials have blamed a new curriculum and a more careful review process. But students should not pay for the system's planning failures. Repeated promises without dates are not accountability.

 

We demand:

 

1. Immediate release of all pending Class 9 books, in print and as free PDFs.

 

2. Exact release dates for each pending book, published on the official NCERT and CBSE websites.

 

3. A clear public explanation of why earlier deadlines were missed, and who is responsible.

 

4. A CBSE circular confirming that exams will cover only the content students have actually received.

 

5. Printed copies available in bookshops and schools, including Hindi-medium and rural areas, at official prices.

 

Students should not lose their education to delays they did not cause. We ask you to act now.
