We, the undersigned, petition Warner Brothers to develop and release the extra Lord of the Rings usable footage that fans haven't seen for the 25th anniversary. This anniversary spans the next three holiday seasons for each movie consecutively.  

Although Peter Jackson’s Lord of the Rings is a film masterpiece and boasts hundreds of millions of fans worldwide, the mountainous scale of unused footage generated by the trilogy has recently been coming to light, and has fans clamoring for a special 25th anniversary extended edition to include more of this footage. These scenes are far from the typical unnecessary chaff that gets cut out of other movies, rather they are entertaining and important pieces of drama, action and character development that would enhance the story, and even drive it closer in accuracy to the book. The gigantic scope of the films necessitated that these scenes go unused back during the theatrical releases. Director Peter Jackson has also been hinting at creating such a special edition for years. 

A few scenes that are high priority to fans include: Faramir and Eowyn's wedding, Gil-Galad's death at the hands of Sauron, the young Aragorn and Arwen scenes, Sam's confrontation with the Watchers of Cirith Ungol, the goblin chase into Lothlorien, and extra battle scenes. (Anything on film that was in the books is considered high priority) No matter if the scenes are just a few seconds of extra material or are more significant, we undersigned fans want to see it all, even alternative versions of scenes like the Uruk Hai boat attack at the end of FOTR. 

If nothing else, the first and main priority for all fans is for all the extra useable shot scenes to be released, whether that's on HBO Max, or on a bonus disc in a 25th anniversary box set, or by some other means. 

Warner Brothers may consider each signature attached to this petition as an indication of interest in either continuing or purchasing a subscription to Max or purchasing the footage in another form, should this extra footage be released. 

In summary, whatever form it comes in, develop and release the mountain of extra footage for the trilogy, and we fans will pay to see it!
