Release the Director's Cut of Deadpool and Wolverine without Disney's censorship

The Issue

As a lifelong fan and an advocate for truth and art in its rawest forms, I've always valued honesty and truth. These values, however, often come into conflict with the issue of censorship. We, the fans of the film franchises Deadpool and Wolverine, have long been captivated by the original, untrimmed depictions of these iconic characters. We believe that the narrative art form demands the freedom to depict both the beautiful and the gritty aspects of our world. This freedom is a fundamental part of the essence of these characters. After all you can't appreciate beauty without knowing what's ugly.

Unfortunately, due to Disney's censorship of these films, the creative wishes and creative autonomy of the filmmakers and the original vision they intended for these characters are restrained. Creativity and authentic storytelling are compromised when art is sanitized for the sake of mass appeal. This creates a significant problem, as 61% of adults report that they appreciate when movies and TV shows portray real-life complexities (Source: Independent Cinema Fund stats 2020).

This petition, therefore, calls for Disney to release the director's cuts of the Deadpool and Wolverine movies, free from their imposed censorship. Doing so would demonstrate respect for creative freedom, the filmmaker’s artistic intent, and the right of audiences to experience authentic storytelling.
