Like many others, I had the joy of experiencing its realms, embarking on thrilling quests, forming guilds, and sharing unforgettable moments with friends old and new. For me, and potentially 20 million others who were once avid participants in this MMO, Free Realms was an integral part of our childhood.
However, this cherished world was suddenly shut down, and since then, Daybreak Game Company has held a tight grip on the rights. Despite the passage of 12 years since its closure, the game has retained a passionate following, with communities continuously rallying for its revival. Small, dedicated groups have even attempted to navigate around the daunting trademark laws and unavailability of files to resurrect this beloved game. Yet, all efforts remain thwarted by legal restraints.
To this day, there remains no indication or announcements from Daybreak about future plans involving Free Realms, leading to ever-growing frustration among its loyal fanbase. What once was a thriving world has been left in the archives, without purpose or promise of revival.
Our proposal is straightforward yet profound: We urge Daybreak Game Company to either release the rights to Free Realms, enabling enthusiastic developers to breathe new life into this community, or to repurpose these rights into a new creation that honors and taps into the nostalgia and love we bear for the original game.
With the sheer number of former players waiting eagerly for a return and groups poised to partake in a revival venture, there is undeniable potential in bringing back something that held so much love.
