Release Coilin McDonagh from his IPP Sentence - End the Inhumane and barbaric sentence

The Issue

Coilin was sentence in 2010 to gbh, he was ordered to serve a tarriff of 2 yrs and 6months. Coilin is autistic, has ADHD and multipersonality disorder so Coilin had no idea what IPP meant. He didnt realise it was a 99 year sentence. He has now spent 13 years in prison with no hope of release. He has saved many prisoners lives, helping to prevent self harm and suicide, he has been a listener, he's completed numerous courses to no avail. Sadly he can't save his own life as his mental health has declined massively. He has had multiple attempts on his own life. He lost his mum to cancer whilst incarcerated so didn't get the chance to help or say goodbye. Most of his family are in Ireland so support is limited. All he wants is some hope, an end date, he wants to live again but all he feels is that is where he will die. He wants to be a dad to his daughter!

Unfortunately the day after Coilin was taken back I suffered a brain injury. Fractured skull, 2 bleeds on the brain and 2 blood clots on the brain, the detrimental effect this has had on us both is extreme. I'm suffering alone and so is he. We cannot see each other as I can't travel safely due to having BPPV and other health conditions. I also now suffer from PTSD, anxiety and depression due to not having my partner to support me or me to support him. His daughter also wants her dad back. The IPP scandal affects everyone. Not just the prisoner but the families, everyone lives in fear that one day that call will come confirming he's gone.

Change needs to happen immediately, we have all lost enough already. Releasing these prisoners will free up much needed space in prisons, take pressure off of the justice system and the prison and probation service.
