Brett Fairley (Ocean Springs Missisipi) is currently incarcerated due to service of his First Amendment rights by voicing the horrors he experienced and trying to be a voice of change. He became a victim of paternity fraud, abuse, and financial exploitation at the hands of Maria Nguyen. Brett was deceived into believing he had fathered a child, leading to over $50,000 in child support charges. According to the American Association of Blood Banks, approximately 28.2% of men tested for paternity end up not being the biological father ("The Innocence Project"). Brett's story of emotional and financial abuse is sadly not unique. He should not face punishment for speaking his truth. In the United States, the First Amendment upholds our right to freedom of expression, which must be respected and safeguarded. We demand immediate action.
