The Issue

As a passionate fan of the Hunger Games series, I was thrilled to see the latest installment, The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes. Based on the prequel by Suzanne Collins, this film takes place sixty-four years prior to the others. While the movie was well-made and captured most of the story of Coreolanus Snow and his mentee Lucy Gray Baird, the director inevitably had to cut some details from the final product. Even with a two hour and thirty-seven minute adaptation, it felt incomplete to hardcore fans due to the substantial amount of content from the book that didn't make it into the theatrical cut.

Rumors that arose during the production of the film suggest that an extended cut existed for test audiences, which was nearly an hour longer than what we saw in theaters. At approximately three hours and forty minutes, this extended edition would provide dedicated fans, like myself and others, with a more comprehensive understanding and enjoyment of this beloved story.

The Hunger Games series has captivated millions worldwide with its compelling narrative and characters. Its popularity is evident in its box office success - grossing over US $3.15 billion to date globally across five films. By releasing an extended edition, Lionsgate Films can not only satisfy dedicated fans but also potentially increase their revenue through additional sales. Whether the extended version is offered as a purchased digital download, or streamed on a different site, I am positive that true fans would pay for the additional hour of footage.

We strongly urge Lionsgate Films to respond to the passionate fanbase of this saga by releasing an extended edition for The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes after it leaves theatres. Please, let us experience this captivating world in all its intended depth!

Please sign this petition if you too want to see everything that was cut from the original film!
