Hello all,
We are now 1,100 strong! Thank you for continuing to sign and share this petition. We hope you are all warm and safe in light of the recent snowstorm. Please take a moment to read through this brief update and call to action.
Planning Commission Meeting: Monday Feb 2nd at 6pm
The work session for ZTA #25-187,Data Centers is only one week away. There is no public comment component for this work session, but we still invite you to attend, either virtually or in person. LET'S FILL THE ROOM with community members to show the Planning Commission that WE OPPOSE DATA CENTERS in Charles County! Feel free to make and bring signs to hold up during the work session to reinforce our message.
Information about the meeting, including the agenda, can be found on the County website. If this will be your first time attending a Planning Commission meeting, check out this short Substack article with helpful tips.

Fill out our Action Network form to get the most recent updates from us and/or get involved with the Coalition directly. It is important for the effectiveness of this movement against data centers that we be able to communicate with you independent of the Change petition. Filling out the form will only take a minute. There are several things you have the opportunity to express interest in, including getting updates, helping plan Coalition efforts, and meeting with residents or local elected officials.
Canvas (Door Knocking) with us on Feb 1st.
If you are passionate about this issue and want to spread awareness to more residents, we invite you to join us for canvassing in Charles County on February 1st. We will be going door to door sharing information about the ZTA and inviting residents to the Planning Commission meeting the next day. Fill out the Action Network form and select the option "Canvassing/Knocking doors."
CCADC Meetings with County Commissioners
We have started scheduling meetings with County Commissioners to discuss the harms of data centers. We had arranged a virtual meeting with Commissioner Patterson for this past Sunday 1/25. We showed up to the meeting, but the Commissioner did not, nor did we receive any communication from the Commissioner or his staff asking to cancel or postpone. We will continue trying to schedule a meeting, but this silence speaks volumes to us about his priorities where constituents are concerned.
If you would like to attend a meeting with any of the Commissioners as a constituent from their district, fill out the Action Network form and select the option "Lobbying Commissioners."
We hope to see you at the Planning Commission meeting on Feb 2nd. Please share this message and consider helping out in other ways if you can. We are strong together!
In solidarity,
Charles County Against Data Centers Coalition
