UPDATE: Urgent Action Required
Please be advised that the City of Mississauga has advised that they will not accept the form of petition that was previously circulated online/electronically. The method that they request is handwritten original signatures, which unfortunately is not realistic given the time sensitivity of this matter.
However, in the spirit of demonstrating to the city that these policies will not deter any effort to stop the proposed zoning variance, we are suggesting that in lieu of a hard copy petition, that each of you submit you send an email to the Committee of Adjustment via email, as soon as possible.
To assist you in submitting a formal comment to the Committee, below is a sample letter which you can copy and paste, along with your name, address and the file number or address of the property, so that our collection of voices can still be heard.

Re: File: A492.23 1757 Rowntree Court
To whom it may concern,
I am deeply concerned about the application for a minor variance to allow a change of zoning proposing a transitional housing use on the subject property whereas By-law 0225-2007, as amended, does not permit transitional housing on the subject property.
While I recognize that transitional housing can be a crucial resource for those in need, the location of such facilities should be carefully considered. This particular location is immediately adjacent to the Sts. Martha and Mary Catholic Elementary School property with a direct sightline from the subject property to the school yard and classrooms, creating the opportunity to expose young children to endless risk. Moreover, it could potentially disrupt the learning environment due to increased noise and traffic as many children use the connecting pedestrian walkway from Rowntree Court to the school property to get to and from school. If the proposed change of zoning is approved, the property owner could alter the use to any of the definitions of a transitional home, despite what they present in their request in an effort to have their application approved, without further approvals being required by the City of Mississauga. Given that this property directly borders an elementary school, it presents the alarming possibility of a change in tenancy from a low risk to children, to a high risk, as noted in the list of possible housing programs being offered throughout the City of Mississauga by both recognized agencies as well as private, less reputable organizations.
We believe there are more suitable locations within our city for transitional homes that would not directly impact the young children as this location would. Therefore, we urge the Committee of Adjustment to reject this application for variance in zoning on this basis.
