Reject VA Order to Monitor 'Anti-Christian Bias' Among Staff

The Issue

The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs has ordered its staff to monitor and report one another for so-called “anti-Christian bias,” including informal conversations, policies, or objections to past vaccine or abortion-related mandates. Employees were told to submit names, dates, and specific accusations to a new government task force created by the Trump administration.

This alarming directive comes as part of a broader campaign to reshape public institutions around a narrow definition of religious expression. Rather than protecting religious freedom, the VA’s new order risks chilling free speech, encouraging political policing among coworkers, and creating a climate of fear across a nonpartisan government agency meant to serve all veterans.

Every person in this country deserves freedom of belief — not surveillance over their personal or political views. Mandating that workers report one another for perceived “bias” is a dangerous precedent that has no place in a professional environment, let alone in an agency tasked with caring for those who served our country.

Tell VA Secretary Doug Collins, Attorney General Pam Bondi, and House Veterans’ Affairs Committee Chair Mike Bost to immediately rescind this order and stop the surveillance of federal employees for their personal views. Sign now to protect free speech, workplace dignity, and the rights of all Americans.
