House Republicans have introduced a proposal that would strip health care from millions of low-income Americans, raise fees for the poorest patients, and create burdensome red tape designed to kick people off Medicaid.

This proposal is not just a budget measure — it’s a direct threat to health care access for seniors, disabled people, working families, and children.

According to the Congressional Budget Office, the plan would:

• Force 2.3 million to lose health coverage - mainly elderly and disabled people
• Require poor Americans to pay $35 co-pays for doctor visits
• Enforce strict work requirements that echo failed policies from the past
   

And all of this is happening during a period of rising health costs and state budget strain — with no meaningful alternative offered.

This is part of a sweeping bill that includes tax breaks for the wealthy and military spending increases, while slashing the programs that keep everyday people alive.

We call on Congress to reject the GOP proposal and protect Medicaid access for all who need it. Reject new barriers to care like work requirements and extra fees.
