Dear friends,
We are very happy to announce that the legal fund to repeal Tamil Genocide Education Week Act (TGEWA) has surpassed CAD110,000! Since the start of the campaign in late May, many placed their trust and confidence in the movement by way of personal and organizational donations. All donations are being reflected in GoFundMe. All donations received via cheque, eTransfers, and PayPal are also receipted and reflected in GoFundMe as offline donations. Regular updates on the financial situation are provided at the Fund Raising Forum, which is an open forum for our community. There are individual donations, organizational donations as well as contributions from10 community fundraising events conducted by various groups.
The community has come together to fight to repeal TGEWA!
This landmark case in Ontario and Canada was filed in the Ontario Superior court on the 28th of August, and we are awaiting a hearing date. The parties to the case are the Sri Lankan Canadian Action Coalition and the Sri Lanka Canada Association of Brampton.
We had come a long way, but still a long way to go till the end. We look forward to your support till we are successful in the court to repeal TGEWA.
